What is CinéfestOZ?
As in all good scripts CinéfestOZ began as a dream - a dream of creating the beautiful seaside town of Busselton into the equivalent venue of a cinematic experience like our sister festival held in St Tropez. A film festival which showcased the very best of the extra-ordinary talent, exhibited by both French and Australian film makers - a festival which would celebrate the historic harmonics of French influences on our southwest corner of the state.
The Festival aims to bring, a cavalcade of film - film which will intrigue the young, entertain families and enchant all lovers of film - film that will offer everyone, the opportunity to experience the laughter, the joy, the pathos, the sadness and the reality stories so wonderfully told by the art of the camera.
Each year CinéfestOZ brings to the screens new and exciting films, many that have never been shown and featuring talent that otherwise would be hidden from the public gaze.
Every year festival goers can experience new stories, rich in beauty and mystic while reliving the past or starring at the future.
All films shown at CinéfestOZ have either a French or Australian link.
CinéfestOZ is a new experience. It brings with it the cultural offerings of the region; the gastronomic, the wine and the sense of place that is the southwest.
It is a cultural experience, where the industry and the community meet.
What makes us tick?
As a production of Geographe French Australian Festivals Inc., CinéfestOZ is a not for profit event.
Their initial intention was to create an event of prestige that would impact locally, state wide, nationally and eventually internationally. The plan was to achieve its goals over a period of ten years.
CinéfestOZ 10 represents year three of that plan when, with the benefit of experience the Festival will take its place as a state event, supported by government, industry and commercial enterprise.
